![]() One of the DC TV shows that have been in development for several years at HBO Max is Green Lantern from Arrowverse executive producer Greg Berlanti. That is, if he's not busy with Deadpool by then. HBO Maxs upcoming Green Lantern TV show is being redeveloped following a major overhaul at Warner Bros. But, thanks to a makeshift power ring that he created out of sheer will, Green Lantern is once again protecting Coast City. There's no reason to think he'd ignore a strong script or director for the sequel - or an appearance in a Justice League movie, for that matter. After the disappearance of the Guardians of Oa, the United Planets have taken control of the Green Lantern Corps, leading Hal Jordan and Kilowog to quit and return to Earth. Why Green Lantern 2 was never made (Image via DC) It is safe to say that Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern is a film that everyone involved with. And while Reynolds has been open about making fun of his less successful superhero past, joking about violently shooting. The studio may decide to go with a different actor (and we've got some casting ideas if they do), but if star power can save Green Lantern, there are few bigger - or as interested - as Reynolds. Needless to say, the Green Lantern joke in Deadpool 2 is pretty harsh. His current fame as one of the sexiest men on the planet nearly guarantees that almost any movie would do better with him than without. (It cost 200 million to make before marketing.) Plans for a Green Lantern franchise were squashed and the DC movie universe was rebuilt starting with Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. The Green Lantern is a character that, just like Superman, DC Comics fans have always wanted to see get his own video game. and DC than sticking with Reynolds as their Jordan - he's the one they brought to the dance, he should be the one they leave with. In all honesty, it's hard to think of a safer play for Warner Bros. Man they kept any info for this movie under lock and key we knew from last fandome that the next DC animated movie (in the Man of Tomorrow timeline) would be GL related but didn't get a peep after that announcement. Since the film's release, Reynolds has agreed with fan assessments that the movie didn't do justice to the comic, so blaming him for its problems seems like misguided anger. ![]() Criticising Death Battle for not doing their research properly is one thing, but it isn’t right to start hating on Green Lantern and DC in general just because they happened to be the opponent. Green Lantern is an awesome character as well. Yes, its a superhero film and its a comic book movie, but theres a real core philosophy to it. His leadingman status was never in doubt beforehand, but Reynolds' enthusiasm for the story and history of the character was clear from the get-go. They have made fantastic characters and told fantastic stories over the decades through their comics. Thats the cornerstone of what makes it so unique. ![]() There were plenty of things done horribly wrong with Green Lantern, but casting Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan wasn't one of them. ![]()
